Make time for the light

City centers, clearly identified

These locations use approximate city-center coordinates. For a specific viewpoint, use your exact coordinates and its correct time zone.

A smaller directory to start

The calculator includes 27 locations. Dedicated city pages launch selectively after verifying place identity, coordinates, and time-zone rules; today they exist for New York, Chicago, Dallas and Seattle.

Sunrise and sunset times by city

Cities marked “City page” open a page fixed to that location with its own sunrise, sunset, solar noon, daylight and civil twilight results. The other links open the main calculator with that city preselected, where you can also switch to the monthly calendar or the golden hour tool without losing the selection.

A place that is not listed

Open Use coordinates in any tool, enter the latitude and longitude of the spot and the IANA time zone it keeps, such as America/Anchorage or Asia/Kolkata. A zone name is required because coordinates alone cannot tell which clock a place uses: two points on the same meridian can sit in different zones, and a zone’s daylight saving rules decide the clock label for every event. Latitude runs from −89.9 to 89.9 and longitude from −180 to 180; north and east are positive.

Why city-center coordinates

A city is not a point, and sunrise at the eastern edge of a large metropolitan area can differ from the western edge by a minute or more. Fixed city-center coordinates keep every result reproducible and make the stated assumptions easy to check. When a minute matters, use your own coordinates instead.
