Terms of use

Plain conditions for using a free reference site. Last reviewed 2026-09-25.

Use of the site

You may use the calculators, tables, downloads and text for personal and non-commercial planning free of charge. Automated bulk downloading, scraping that burdens the server, or re-publishing whole pages as your own is not permitted. Short quotations with a link to the source page are welcome.

No guarantee

All times are astronomical estimates for a level sea-level horizon with standard refraction, rounded to the minute, produced by open-source software as described on the methodology page. They are provided as they are, without any warranty of accuracy, completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. Where a legal, contractual, navigational or safety-related definition of sunrise, sunset or daylight applies, consult the official source that governs it.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the publisher is not liable for any loss arising from reliance on the information on this site, including missed events, travel decisions or photographic plans. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Software licences

The calculation engine is SunCalc 2.0.2, copyright Volodymyr Agafonkin, used under the BSD-2-Clause licence, the full text of which is published at assets/js/SUNCALC-LICENSE.txt. The site’s own text, illustrations and code are copyright the publisher.

Changes and contact

These terms may be updated; the review date is at the top of this page. Questions go through the contact form.

Publisher details (the name and contact address of the person or organisation responsible for this site) will be added here as soon as they have been supplied. Until then, use the contact form.
